Good morning VVC'ers,
A quick plug for one of our fellow collaboration discussion groups, the VUC (VoIP User's Conference – http://vuc.me) who are celebrating their fifth year of weekly podcasts and VoIP/video related meetings.
Unfortunately due to the challenges of the Greenwich Meridian, the VUC is usually held at 2am on Saturday mornings for most of us located in Australia – a great time for our US and EU colleagues, but a late night/early morning for the rest of us.
VUC aren't just about voice, they also talk widely about the world of video and their last podcast on VSee would have been of interest to many of you based on our discussions on desktop video conferencing from last week (http://www.voipusersconference.org/2012/vsee-video-conferencing/).
VUC are also great promoters of the micro-lending service Kiva (http://www.kiva.org) and the VUC group has to date loaned more than $10,000 to projects aimed at alleviating poverty in third world and developing nations.
On April 6 (yes, a public holiday here in Australia) the VUC will be celebrating their milestone achievements with a 24-hour voice/video/collaboration'athon which will commence at 6pm AEST (http://www.voipusersconference.org/2012/24-hours-of-vuc/) and run until that time on Saturday the 7th (remember, daylight savings time ends at 2am on April 1st this year – no kidding).
You can get more information on the VUC from the links above, http://vuc.me (including how to join) and following their Twitter account at http://twitter.com/voipusers
It would be great to see some of you there on the day to support this great initiative.
